Redevelopment Project
Project Background
The key to the future growth of Tennis in Bendigo, will come through the delivery of the Redevelopment of the Bendigo Tennis Complex. This is a project has been formulated through the efforts of the City of Greater Bendigo, Tennis Australia, State Government of Victoria, Australian Government and the Bendigo Tennis Association.
At over $6.2 million this is the largest investment into the facility, since it was created in the early 1980’s. Upon its completion, the Centre at the forefront of playing venues in Australia, and further enhance our ability to build the sport of tennis both locally and across the region, as well as ensuring we continue to attract events of a National and International significant to Bendigo.

Works on stage 1 of the new facility, begun in November 2016, with the following to be completed by mid – late September 2017.
- Redevelopment of the Bendigo Tennis Centre Pavilion creating a modern, functional and flexible space
- Construction of 4 ITF sized courts, ensuring compliance with Tennis Australia/International Tennis Federation standards
- Improvements to fencing and surrounds
- Improvements to court lighting, with installation of LED lighting to minimise ongoing operating costs.
- Improvements to car parking
- External landscaping.
Stage 2 works, which will be completed by October 2017 include:
- Rebuild and construction of 7 courts to club standard
- Installation of Plexi Cushion Prestige and LED lighting
- Upgrade fencing and surround
Stage 3 works, completed by November 2017 include:
- Construction of a Hot Shots zone, with 3 * red ball sized courts
- Hit up wall
- surrounding landscaping
Stage 4 works on a permanent grand stand for 400+ patrons, is expected to commence in late 2017.
Tournament standard courts and facilities
With a strong tournament focus and strength in plexi cushion court numbers, attention now needs to be placed on the clubhouse and centre court to ensure that the quality of off court facilities matches the class of the on court facilities.
National event ready
This project will assist in attracting and delivering events of a regional, state and national significance at the Bendigo Tennis Centre, as well as providing the flexibility to provide a diversity of other events allowing it to operate as a high quality and regionally significant tennis centre for the next 20-30 years.
Developing local champions
The events provided at the centre provide flow on benefits to the region, including providing pathways for aspiring athletes, bringing in significant visitor numbers to the region and give the region exposure to current and future tennis champions (previous competitors at Bendigo Tennis Centre events include Nick Kyrgios, Sam Groth, Daria Gavrilova and Casey Dellacqua).

Community Contribution
As a part of the funding mix, the Bendigo TA are looking to raise $250,000 to contribute towards the project. We are now seeking donations from interested community members to help with our contribution towards the project. Interested individuals / organsations can look to contribute in 3 main ways:
- For Generations Campaign – The Bendigo TA have launched our For Generations campaign to assist with the raising of funds towards the project. Anyone wishing to make a donation to our project is welcome to do so through the ASF, with all donations over $2 eligible for a Tax Deduction.
- Buy Infrastructure – The BTA are finalising a program for which people can buy aspects of the new development, ie show court naming, function room naming, seats in the grand stand. Further information on these opportunities will be provided here in the coming weeks, or alternatively you can contact Leon at the Complex on 5442 5744 for more information on this.
- Social activities – the BTA, and our affiliates, will deliver a number of social activities and events which will look to raise funds directly towards the redevelopment plan. This includes trivia nights, social tournaments, balls, etc. More information on these activities will appear on this website once confirmed.
