Advanced Juniors

Advanced Juniors is designed for players of a higher level of competitive play. Matches will be played on Friday or Monday nights from 4:30pm. Teams consist of 4 players. Match format: first to 6 game tiebreak set (5 all) with advantage at deuce.

  • Grades 1, 2 – Friday, mixed, 4 singles and 1 doubles sets.
  • Grades 3, 4 – Monday, boys/girls, 4 singles and 4 doubles sets.

Intermediate Juniors

Intermediate juniors are invited to join our competitions on Saturday mornings from 8am or 10:15am. Teams consist of 4 players and grades are separated into either boys or girls.

  • Grades 5 to 8 Boys – Saturday from 8am to 10:15am, 4 singles and 4 doubles sets. First to 6 game tiebreak set (5 all) with sudden death at deuce.
  • Grade 5 & 6 Girls – Saturday from 8am to 10:15am, 4 singles and 4 doubles sets. First to 6 game tiebreak set (5 all) with sudden death at deuce.
  • Grade 9 & 10 Boys – Saturday from 10:15am to 12:30pm, 6 doubles sets. First to 6 game set (no tiebreaker) with sudden death at deuce.
  • Grades 7 to 10 Girls – Saturday from 10:15am to 12:30pm, 6 doubles sets. First to 6 game set (no tiebreaker) with sudden death at deuce.

Beginner Juniors

Beginner juniors are invited to join our competitions on Saturday mornings from 10:15am to 12:30pm. Teams consist of 4 players and can be boys, girls or a mixed composition. There will be 4 doubles matches per week. Match format: first to 6 game set (no tiebreaker) with sudden death at deuce.

Hot Shots Leagues

Hot Shots leagues is an introductory tennis program designed for players from 6 to 10 years old who have had limited playing or coaching experience. This competition utilises modified balls, courts, and equipment, yet still provides the atmosphere and environment of team tennis.

Hots Shots Leagues will offer two levels of competition:

  • Green Ball – 8 to 10 years old
  • Orange Ball – 6 to 8 years old

The new Hot Shots League runs on Friday afternoons from 4:30pm to 5:45pm. Teams consist of 3 players and can be boys, girls or a mixed composition. The format of matches will be 3 singles and 3 doubles matches per week. Match format: first to 4 game set (no tiebreaker) with sudden death at deuce.

Competition Details

Season Dates

Round 1 Week of 9th October 2017
Round 11 Week of 18th December 2017
Christmas Break
Round 12 Week of 29th January 2018
Round 18 (final round) Week of 12th March 2018
Semi Finals Week of 19th March 2018
Grand Finals Week of 26th March 2018

In the event of a semi-finals washout, the higher team on the ladder at the completion of the final rounds will advance to the Grand Final. In case of a Grand Final washout, the higher placed team will be declared the premiers.

Eligibility and Membership

All players must be 17 years or under as at 31st December 2017.

All nominated players must be financial members of the Club nominating them. Players will not take to the court until they can prove they are a financial member of a Bendigo TA affiliated tennis club.

Umpires

Teams are to provide Umpires/Court Supervisors as follows:

Grades 1-4 No umpires
 Grades 5+ An adult court supervisor to be provided each week by both teams
 Hot Shots League  An adult court supervisor to be provided each week by both teams

Dress Code

Correct tennis attire must be worn during play. It is recommended that teams adopt a playing uniform for each member. All players must wear non-marking sports shoes. Boys to wear a collared shirt and shorts which do not cover the knee. Girls to wear a tennis dress or skirt/shirt or shorts/shirt. Shirt should be collared. It is the responsibility of each Club to enforce this for their own players.

Grading

Team grading will be carried out by the grading committee soon after the close of nominations. The first 3 rounds of the season will be utilised as a grading period. Any teams who are wishing to submit a request for regrading must apply by Sunday 29th October by email to info@bendigotennis.com.au.

Team Nominations

A team nomination fee must be paid with the team entry prior to inclusion into the Competition. The fee is $80 per team (incl. GST).

Playing Committee

All matches will be under the sole control of the Playing Committee. Any protests or disputes should be directed in writing to the Chairman or lodged via the scorecard. Submission of the Entry Form indicates acceptance of the competition By Laws and BTA Codes of Conduct.

Venues

Junior matches will be played exclusively at the William Loud Tennis Complex and the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Complex. In the event that other courts are required, South Bendigo, Spring Gully, Strathfieldsaye, and Epsom Tennis Clubs may be used for the running of competition matches.

Forfeits and Fines

Teams will be fined their total match fee (both teams) for and un-notified forfeit. In order to avoid an un-notified forfeit, the team must notify the BTA of their intention to forfeit a minimum of 48 hours prior to the scheduled match time. Teams continually offending will be disqualified from the Competition.
